![]() ![]() ![]() The game is still good, but it's a step down from Pinball FX3, but I would be lying to say that I didn't have a ton of fun playing the new Williams tables. I know I might get some hate for this next comment, but is the game still worth it? And for the Williams tables the answer for me is still yes. ![]() (This doesn't effect Fishtales for some reason.) The only saving grace is that the video stutter seems completely eliminated or extremely minimal when playing with enhancements off. It's MUCH better docked, but a slight stutter is still there. This is especially an issue when playing in handheld mode with enhanced effects on. The new tables Addams Family, Twilight Zone, and World Cup don't always run at a locked-frame rate. That choice is gone here, and it is ALL Zen Physics! 83 million is much closer to what I can get on a real machine. The ball physics aren't better, THEY ARE LESS REALISTIC! In FX3, you could choose between Zen Physics and Arcade Physics. That made me go hmmm.because on Pinball FX3, my highscore, and I have been playing it for 3 years, is only 83 million. My high score on Fishtales in the "new" Pinball FX was over 300 million. Let's take Fishtales, same game on both platforms. The decision to change games becomes even stranger. The developer has stated themselves that Pinball FX for Switch will no longer be cross-play like FX3 was with other systems, because they couldn't get the same level of physics as on the other hardware they support. I am all for that, and here is where the Switch version COMPLETELY drops the ball. The WHOLE REASON they said they went with a new game is ball physics. You can barely hear them even with all the audio options to adjust. You can't adjust some HUD elements like you could in FX3. Note: This game is always WORK IN PROGRESS. Let's just start with the minor quibbles. If you planned on a mini-cab around the Switch and were hopeful for FX, just stick with FX3 until Zen can make FX a bit better.īefore I give my opinion, I ONLY play Williams tables on FX3 and FX. My opinion is to save your money for now and keep on with FX3. Ball save was still activated, but it happened 5x in a row. On Sorcerers layer, I had an instance where the ball would auto-lunch after a saved ball, go into the left side bumpers, then fall into the left lane sink. I know you guys had to make some sacrifices for the Switch version, but it's like the ball is on a field of ice. The physics in-game just don't feel right. You can make Nintendo only leaderboards, but still no local leaderboard. In general, the FX menu is much worse than FX3 menu, across all platforms. Why is the screen rotation not on the opening menu like it is in FX3? You either have to wait until you're in the game, or go into the settings menu.FX on Switch is very distracting in that regard. When graphics aren't crisp and motion isn't smooth, even to 1080p standard, it makes it hard to enjoy VPin.If Nintendo can get 8-player Smash Brothers to look awesome at 4K, there's no reason why FX can't look similar. When I put FX on my 4K, it just looks ugly. Even FX3 stretched out onto my 4K TV looks more crisp and visually appealing than FX on the small Switch screen (smaller screen should create the effect of more pixel density, therefore, crisper looking grpahics). Sorry Zen, I don't know what the urgency was to switch to the new engine for FX, but there really needs to be some work done here. I fell in love with VPin from the Switch version of FX3 and now play FX on my PC in a custom built cab. Just downloaded the new FX on Nintendo Switch, and I can sum it up in three words: Just literally saw this review on my FB feed from Pinball FX Community Group (copy pasta): ![]()
